The Games
Ilsian Games has currently developed two products:
Galactic Conquest and Flash Attack.
Galactic ConquestGalactic Empire
is a multi-player online game with a mud-like interface.
It's a space conquest game, featuring real-time combat
and turn based empire building and has quite a lot of
features. It was inspired by the MajorBBS game
Galactic Emipire, but is largely original.
Galactic Conquest currently has its own website
here.
I've also been working on a GUI
client for Galactic Conquest, but its not public anytime
soon (if ever).
There is also a Yahoo! Group for
Galactic Conquest.
Flash Attack
Flash Attack Over IP (FAOIP!) is a remake of a very old
commodore 2-player tank combat game, which later made an
appearance on MajorBBS through the work of Tim Stryker
(RIP) and was quite honestly an awesome game. This
one is written in Java and should run nicely under win32
and linux.
One note: It's not ready yet. I still have some
work to get it ready for alpha release. But its
close. There is more details about it
here.
I first wrote the game engine for
this in c++ as a Symbian OS DLL to run on Nokia's Series
60 phones. I then wrote a 'practice only' version
of the app for Series 60 which was coming along nicely.
Then I decided Java was a better market place, so ported
the engine to MIDP Java. Then I figure I've got
this Java Game Engine I've been using for the Galactic
Conquest Client, why not just put them together?
So now its a straight-up J2SE application.
I've tried to maintain the same
spirit as the original.
About Ilsian Games
Ilsian Games is just a name I've
decided to use to parent the two games I've written.
Ilsian is a name I made up. It was first
used to describe a secret society of renegade do-gooders
in an RPG world I made up. They were the Ilsian
Coven and made their home in a demi-plane known as the
Ilsian Glade. Somewhat inspired by Twin Peaks
"White Lodge". When I wrote Galactic
Conquest, the EMPIRE became the ILSIAN EMPIRE. So
now, we have Ilsian Games.
